The Windows install, step by step
- Download the installer for MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 from the Personal Area, where the account number and the server name are shown together.
- Run the installer on Windows 10 or Windows 11 - one installer each, no configuration during setup.
- Log in with the trading account number and that account's own password, choosing the correct server from the list.
- Add the symbols you watch, arrange the charts and timeframes, then save the template so new charts open the same way.
- Leave the machine set up. A desktop that is not rebuilt each evening is the whole reason to install rather than use the browser.

Why the template step is not optional

If a Windows step will not go through
- The login is rejected: check the server name from the account entry before re-typing the password. An account only connects to its own server.
- The password is refused: the platform wants the trading password for that account, not the Personal Area password.
- The account list is empty in the platform: platforms show one trading account at a time, not the profile.
- Charts open without indicators: save a template once the layout is arranged, then apply it to new charts.
- The machine is shared: use the browser platform instead, which stores nothing on the disk and leaves no profile behind.
- The install will not start: the desktop terminal needs a supported Windows version and a small amount of free disk space, not a powerful machine.
