Sri Lanka — MetaTrader 4 (MT4)
Setting MT4 up for an Exness account is four moves: download from the Personal Area, install, log in with the trading account number and its own password on the account server, then add the symbols you actually watch.
Open Exness Account →Setting up MetaTrader 4 for an Exness account runs in four steps: download the build for the machine, install it, log in with the trading account number and its own password on the right server, then add the symbols you actually watch. The platform is free, it connects to any Exness account tier, and the chart layout it saves on the machine is what makes the second session faster than the first.
Measured order execution — Standard

MetaTrader 4 (MT4) at Exness
- Download from the Personal Area, where the account number and the server name are shown together.
- The desktop build runs on Windows 7 or later and needs roughly 1 GB of RAM and about 100 MB of free disk space; a macOS build is also available.
- Log in with the MT4 password issued for that account, not the Personal Area password.
- Pick the correct server from the list - a rejected login is often a server choice rather than a wrong password.
- Open Market Watch, right-click, choose Symbols, and add instruments from the full tree.
- Nine timeframes, more than thirty built-in technical indicators, custom indicators and one-click trading.
- Market orders plus Buy and Sell Limit and Buy and Sell Stop, each able to carry a Stop Loss and a Take Profit.
- Save a chart template once the timeframe and indicators are set, so every new chart opens the same way.
- The connection between the terminal and the Exness servers uses 128-bit SSL encryption.
- The same account also opens in the MT4 WebTerminal and the MT4 mobile app, so the desktop build is not a requirement.
Get started
Download MetaTrader 4 (MT4) from your Personal Area area after you open an account, or try it first on a free demo.

Nine chart timeframes, more than thirty built-in technical indicators, custom indicators, multiple chart types and one-click trading. Orders come in two shapes: market orders and the pending set of Buy Limit, Sell Limit, Buy Stop and Sell Stop, each able to carry a Stop Loss and a Take Profit.
The connection between the terminal and the Exness servers is protected with 128-bit SSL encryption. Availability is not limited to the desktop build: the same account opens in the MT4 WebTerminal and in the MT4 mobile app, so a layout built on a computer is not a requirement for trading away from it.
When to pick MT4 rather than MT5
MT4 is the classic forex terminal and has been an industry-standard platform since 2005. Pick it when the workflow is already built around it - an existing chart template, a familiar indicator set, muscle memory in the order window - because those transfer straight across to an Exness account.
Pick MetaTrader 5 instead when the plan involves more than forex, or when depth of market and a built-in economic calendar are part of the routine. Both connect to the same Exness account, so the choice is reversible: connect the second platform, compare, and keep whichever one gets used.
MT4 setup, in order
- Download MetaTrader 4 from the Personal Area after the account exists - the download link sits next to the account, along with the server name.
- Install it. The desktop build runs on Windows 7 or later, needs roughly 1 GB of RAM and about 100 MB of free disk space; a macOS build is also available.
- Log in with the trading account number and the MT4 password issued for that account, not the Personal Area password.
- Pick the server from the list. An account will not connect to the wrong server, so a rejected login is often a server choice rather than a password.
- Open Market Watch, right-click, choose Symbols and add the instruments you want. The default list is short on purpose.
- Save a chart template once the timeframe, indicators and objects are set, so every new chart opens the same way.
MT4 keeps templates and window layouts on the machine, so the setup only has to be built once per computer.
