Sri Lanka — MetaTrader 5 (MT5)
MT5 installs the same way as MT4 but is configured differently, because it is a multi-asset terminal: the watchlist has to be built across asset classes rather than left on the short forex default it opens with.
Open Exness Account →MetaTrader 5 is set up the same way as MT4 but is worth configuring differently, because it is a multi-asset terminal. Download it from the Personal Area, install, log in with the trading account number and its own password on the account server, then build the watchlist across the asset classes you actually intend to trade rather than only the forex pairs the default list opens with.
Measured order execution — Standard
How orders actually filled when real market orders were placed on Exness’s MT5 feed — fill time, slippage and rejects by order size:
| Instrument | Order size | Avg fill | Avg slippage | Fails |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EURUSDm | 0.01 lot | 151 ms | -0.333 pts | 0 |
| EURUSDm | 0.1 lot | 151 ms | -0.333 pts | 0 |
| EURUSDm | 1.0 lot | 146 ms | -0.333 pts | 0 |
| GBPUSDm | 0.01 lot | 141 ms | 0.667 pts | 0 |
| GBPUSDm | 0.1 lot | 130 ms | 0.0 pts | 0 |
| GBPUSDm | 1.0 lot | 135 ms | 0.333 pts | 0 |
| XAUUSDm | 0.01 lot | 141 ms | 0.0 pts | 0 |
| XAUUSDm | 0.1 lot | 151 ms | 80.0 pts | 0 |
| XAUUSDm | 1.0 lot | 130 ms | -72.333 pts | 0 |

MetaTrader 5 (MT5) at Exness
- Download from the Personal Area and log in with that account's own trading password on its own server.
- Build the watchlist by asset class - forex, metals, energies, indices, stocks and crypto CFDs each sit in their own branch of the tree.
- Turn on Depth of Market for the symbols where it matters, and pin the built-in economic calendar.
- Twenty-one timeframes, 38 built-in technical indicators and 44 analytical objects.
- Six pending order types rather than four, each with optional Stop Loss and Take Profit, alongside market orders.
- Try the extra pending types once on a demo, before they are needed on a live position.
- Every Exness account tier connects to MT5, including demo accounts.
- Positions sync across desktop, web and mobile on the same account, so a layout is per machine but a position is not.

Open Exness Account →What MT5 adds over MT4, in setup terms
Twenty-one timeframes, 38 built-in technical indicators and 44 analytical objects. Six pending order types rather than four - Buy Limit, Sell Limit, Buy Stop, Sell Stop, Buy Stop Limit and Sell Stop Limit - each with optional Stop Loss and Take Profit. Depth of Market and an economic calendar are built in.
In practice the difference shows up at setup time rather than in the order window. A multi-asset watchlist has to be organised, or the terminal fills with symbols that are never traded; and the extra pending types are only useful if they are tried once on a demo before they are needed on a live position.
Which one to install first
If the plan is forex only and there is an existing MT4 workflow, install MT4 first and add MT5 later. If the plan spans forex, metals, indices and crypto CFDs from one account, install MT5 first, because organising a multi-asset watchlist twice is the avoidable work.
Either way the decision is reversible and cheap: both platforms are free, both connect to the same Exness account, and a position opened in one is visible in the other. The measured execution figures on this site come from that same MT5 feed.
MT5 setup, in order
- Download MetaTrader 5 from the Personal Area, where the account number and the server name are shown together.
- Install and log in with the trading password for that account. Every Exness account tier connects to MT5, including demo accounts.
- Open the full symbol tree and add instruments by asset class: forex, metals, energies, indices, stocks and crypto CFDs each sit in their own group.
- Turn on Depth of Market for the symbols where it matters, then open the built-in economic calendar and pin it - both are part of the terminal, not add-ons.
- Set the timeframes you will use. MT5 offers 21 of them, and leaving all 21 on the toolbar makes the wrong one easy to click.
- Place a test order with a pending type rather than a market order, so the six pending shapes are familiar before they are needed.
